Re: On the Bench
Still sanding and filing. Pipemaking comes to about a dollar an hour:

Re: On the Bench
I have often wondered about that. Artists and craftsmen rarely get a very good "hourly" wage. I think it is cumulative or perhaps linear and only after many years of perfecting their craft do they actually begin to make any serious money. America's most prolific pipemaker, Mark Tinsky, says he can crank out a pipe start to finish in about five hours. Of course that is all the man has done his whole adult life....create pipes. Tinsky isn't hurting but I don't think he is getting filthy rich either!

It's a hobby for me. I make what I need in my day job, so my reward is the satisfaction of learning a skill, seeing someone else enjoy the result, connecting up with the past and, just a little bit, sticking it to the politically correct idiots who want to stamp out individual freedoms.

A shame this won't be seen outside of our little corner of the internet.

So, like monkeys in a tree we look down and see lots of envious faces.
And those that are looking up see nothing but ass holes.

I treated Harvard like the Vikings treated England. I went ashore, plundered all things of value, and then left as soon as possible.

Re: On the Bench
Okay, the second one in progress is beginning to look like a pipe. I have gotten this far with no clear idea of what I was trying for, but it wants to be a billiard I guess and, just to make it interesting, maybe a half-saddle bit? This is also acrylic, "rocky mountain brown," and the extension is of the same material. This one is for the website.
